As the nation’s leading source of agricultural and food law research and information, direct contact with the agricultural community and its many stakeholders is at the center of all the NALC does, said Director Harrison Pittman.
“We are here to serve the agricultural community, and at our core strive to be a stakeholder-driven institution,” he said. “We engage constantly with stakeholders across the country, whether it’s through an in-person presentation to hundreds, a videoconference, or just a good old fashioned phone call. We’re here to help everyone as best we can.”
NALC staff speak frequently at events across the country. These include producer workshops, webinars, industry meetings, guest lectures, and law conferences, among others. In the past year, NALC staff has spoken to nearly 100 different audiences at in-person events across the country. Numerous other virtual events, such as remote conferences and podcast recordings, also featured NALC staff.
Pittman notes the NALC receives numerous inquiries from a variety of stakeholders daily, including federal policy makers, producers, state agriculture departments, media, and many others.
“Each day brings something different,” he said. “From a farmer wanting know what fence laws apply to his or her area, a group interested in the latest on the Endangered Species Act or pesticide regulation, to a policymaker or lending institution seeking the latest on foreign ownership of agricultural land, we deal with topics spanning far and wide.”
If you’re looking for a speaker for your event, a resource for an article or publication, or just to discuss ag law and policy, the NALC is here to help.
