The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is proposing a rule to recognize the State of Sonora, a region in Mexico, to be free of fever ticks.
They would also establish an exemption from acaricide dipping treatment requirements, and the documentation requirements associated with such dipping, which are required for cattle and other ruminants originating from Sonora.
The proposed action would remove restrictions on the importation of cattle and other ruminants from Sonora that are no longer necessary, and it would reduce the costs associated with tick dipping for exporters and importers of ruminants.
Comments will be accepted until September 15.
