The University of Illinois Extension will host a free webinar on proposed food safety rules under the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) on Thursday, October 3, from 3:00 to 4:30 CST. Other hosts include the Illinois Stewardship Alliance, Illinois Farmers Market Association, and the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. Details on the webinar are available here.
The webinar focuses on small farmers and will cover several topics under the FSMA including: an introduction to the FSMA, preparing for new regulations with good practices and on-farm food safety plans, what the FSMA means for small farms and local food systems, and how to get involved in the comment process.
