Rancho Feeding Corporation, of Peteluma, California, has recalled about 8.7 million pounds of beef, because it processed diseased and unsound animals and carried out these activities without the benefit or full benefit of federal inspection, according to a news release from USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) available here. Products subject to the recall include beef carcasses, beef heads, oxtail, cheeks, lips, “mountain oysters,” liver, tripe, tongue and others.
The boxes are marked with the establishment number “EST.527” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a case code number ending in 3 or 4. The products were produced from Jan. 1, 2013 through Jan. 7, 2014 and shipped to California, Florida, Illinois and Texas.
