Agritourism is the focus at today’s Horticulture Field Day at the Southwest Research and Extension Center in Hope, Arkansas. Food preservation, fruit production, and agritourism laws and legal considerations round out the agenda.
Dr. Vic Ford, director of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s SWREC told the Magnolia Reporter, “This year’s horticulture field day has a strong program for those in the agritourism business or are considering trying it as an added source of income. We have experts who can discuss how to plan and negotiate the legal considerations of opening a tourism operation.”
Well-known fruit breeder John Clark will speak on new cultivars from the Division of Agriculture along with the division’s two new horticulture specialists, Jackie Lee and Amanda McWhirt. Rusty Rumley, Senior Staff Attorney at the National Agricultural Law Center, will field questions on laws impacting agritourism ventures
