Regulation & Requirements for Grain Warehouses
Warehouses are involved in the storage of grain. Typically, ownership of the grain is maintained by the grower, rather than being transferred to the warehouse. Warehouses are regulated by either state or federal government, depending on the entity with whom the warehouse is licensed. To read more about warehouse licensing on the federal level, click here. The following compilation outlines state statutory requirements affecting grain warehouses that have been enacted throughout the United States. These compilations are only an aid to research. State courts and federal courts, including bankruptcy courts, have interpreted and continue to interpret these statutes. Further, this publication does not include case annotations, which a researcher must consult to thoroughly understand any particular statute. As such, these charts are intended for use solely as an educational tool and research aid, and not as a substitute for individual legal advice.
