The contract to supply milk is the most important contract a dairy farmer will sign. In the past, these contracts were made with local cooperatives or processors. They were simple supply agreements, and farmers barely gave these contracts a second a thought. Today, dairy supply contracts are changing. Purchasers are no longer concerned with just the quality and quantity of milk, but how that milk is produced. Retailing giants are asking farmers to sign supply contracts directly, rather than sourcing their milk from cooperatives. This webinar will feature Todd Janzen, general counsel to the Indiana Dairy Producers and attorney at Janzen Ag Law. Todd will look at the trends in the dairy industry, examine how dairy supply contracts are changing, and give pointers for negotiating with milk purchasers.
