Understanding USDA’s New Dairy Revenue Insurance Program


USDA recently released a first of its kind Dairy Revenue Protection (Dairy RP) program. A new dairy safety-net that protects producers from unexpected price declines. Unlike historical dairy safety net programs, Dairy RP is the first program that can be utilized by both large and small dairies. Brandon Willis, the former head of USDA’s insurance program will walk through the new program and offer tips and insights for those new to USDA insurance programs.

Brandon Willis

Brandon Willis advises dairy producers on USDA’s insurance options at Livestock and Dairy Insurance Solutions LLC. Previously, Brandon served as the Administrator of the Risk Management Agency at the U.S. Department of Agriculture where he oversaw all of USDA’s insurance programs from 2013-2017. He has served as a Senior Adviser to the Secretary of Agriculture, Deputy Administrator for Farm Programs at the Farm Service Agency, and as an Agriculture Legislative Assistant in the U.S. Senate.
