Agricultural Labor Law 101: The Basics of Federal Governance

Sponsored by the Agricultural and Food Law Consortium

 Topic:

Due to the labor intensive nature of production agriculture, it is essential that agricultural operators properly understand and comply with the numerous, and complex, federal agricultural labor laws governing minimum wage and overtime pay, child labor, interns/apprentices, volunteers, independent contractors, and migrant and seasonal workers.  This presentation will address each of these agricultural labor law issues as they are governed under the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Occupation Safety and Health Act, the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, and the H-2A Temporary Agricultural Workers Program.
